Fast food has a rhythm and everybody in the industry knows it.

Breakfast is low ticket. People spend less. It requires opening early, which means paying staff during hours that generate the least revenue.
So most chains treat it as a bolt-on. Add a sandwich, add coffee, hope it covers the cost of unlocking the door.
