If you have ever been inside a Menards, you have seen the sign.
11% OFF EVERYTHING.
It is enormous. It is everywhere. It is on the shelf tags, the flyers, the radio ads, the entrance.
And it is not a discount.
You pay full price at the register. Then you fill out a form, mail it in, wait several weeks, and receive a slip of paper worth 11% of what you spent. That slip can only be used at Menards.
In December 2025, ten state attorneys general reached a $4.25 million settlement with Menards over exactly that gap between the sign and the reality.
Here is the thing though. That rebate is not a marketing gimmick that got out of hand. It is the engine that built the company.
