A college student wrote a business plan for a restaurant that sold only chicken fingers.
No burgers. No breakfast. No salads. No tacos, no wraps, no seasonal menu.
Chicken fingers, fries, coleslaw, Texas toast, a sauce, and a drink. That is the menu. That is still the menu.
The professor gave the plan a poor grade. The reasoning was obvious and, by every rule of the industry, correct. A restaurant needs options. A group of four will go elsewhere if one person does not want the item. A single product is a business with a single point of failure.

The plan went on to become one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in America, with locations generating revenue that most fast food operators can only look at with envy.
The professor was not wrong about the rules. He was wrong about which rule mattered.
