A small clothing store. Maybe four thousand square feet. In a strip center next to a dollar store and a nail salon, in a town of eleven thousand people in South Carolina.

Now do that roughly a thousand times.

No flagship stores. No fashion week. No celebrity campaigns. No app that anyone talks about.

Just a lot of small stores in places that large chains looked at, ran the numbers on, and drove past.

That is a real business, headquartered in Charlotte, and it has been running for the better part of a century.

The strategy is almost aggressively boring, which is precisely why it works.
