Look at the name.
Kitchen.
Not mart. Not stop. Not express. Not any of the words that convenience stores have used for sixty years to tell you exactly what they are.
Kitchen.
That is a company telling you, on the sign, before you park, that it has decided what business it is in. And it is not the fuel business.
The gas pumps are still there. They still matter. But they have been demoted to infrastructure, like the parking lot and the lights.
This is happening across the whole category right now, and this Savannah chain has been more explicit about it than almost anybody.
Which raises the obvious question. If a gas station wants to be a restaurant, why not just open a restaurant?
